​The Ancient Ridgeway that was walked upon for over 5000 years runs for 87 miles from Avebury Stone Circles to London - said to be the oldest road in Europe. Along its Way lies the ancient city or hillfort of Barbury Castle.

The cries of the early Britons can be heard here, defeated by Romans in the 1st Century who built a Military Fort within its impressive Earth and Chalk embankments. The united Romano-British in turn lost a strategic battle against the Saxons bringing a closure to the time of Arthur's Kingdom in 556 AD and the beginning of the Dark Ages that followed.
An Ancient Beech Wood remains high on the hill used as a lookout for the Buzzards and Kites hunting their prey below in the fields.
And a gift from a rabbit hole from deep underground............
